Video is the future of social media marketing
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat are the biggest social media platforms and using them gives you an easy opportunity to have your own TV channel. All you need is a decent smartphone and something to say.
Video testimonials are the way forward for everyone in the hospitality industry, and for the small guesthouse owner, they could be a shortcut to getting your business seen online.
Here’s how to do a video testimonial
After checkout, or even during your guest’s stay, ask if they would willing to do a video testimonial for your website or Facebook page. As a reward, have a pressie for the guest or for anyone who takes part. A box of local chocolates, perhaps, or a stick of rock. Be creative! It doesn’t have to cost a lot.
The video will take 30 seconds. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but the benefits could be massive. Facebook is prioritising all things video. If you can do it live, even better.
Whilst in India, the host at the guesthouse where we were staying asked us at breakfast if we would mind doing a quick video testimonial for his Facebook page. We obliged. The next morning, he showed me the stats: thousands of views and interactions from one 30-second video!
This was a small guesthouse in a desert town in India. If they can do it, so can you! What’s the worst that can happen? Give it a go and please share your results with us!
