After Google, YouTube is the second largest search engine. (And YouTube is owned by Google!)
If it is the second biggest search engine in the world, why don’t you have your property there?
If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million words! It gives a potential customer the chance to see more about you, your property and what it has to offer.
When you think video, I imagine you’re thinking lots of money. Well, you shouldn’t. I made a video for The Grainary in Scarborough back in 2011 with an iPhone and free movie-making software on my computer. It has over 400 views! Check it out here. I’ve also posted about the power of video testimonials.
Just think about what iPhone was available in 2011: the iPhone 4! Fast forward to the iPhone 6 plus that I have now, and what we all have in our pockets, whether it’s a Samsung, HTC, or iPhone. They all have decent cameras with which you can capture a video.
At the end of the day, it isn’t the quality of the image, it’s the content. Guests want to see more about you, your property, the rooms, and what’s around you. If you’re not uploading videos to YouTube, then you are losing out on customers. Guess who has a wealth of videos on YouTube? That’s right: the OTAs!
Another way to think about this is that your guests who stay with you love to make “vacation movies”. They will be filming videos on their phone at your property. If you have never used YouTube, I recommend you go to www.YouTube.com right now and type your property name into the search bar. See if anyone has uploaded a video about you!
The number of people that now check on the Images and Videos tabs when conducting a Google Search are crazy. Every year the numbers go up.
