Easily Hack Airbnb Categories To Improve Search Results [2022]

If you're looking for a place to stay, chances are you've checked out Airbnb. And if you've ever used Airbnb, you know that it can be a little tricky to find the perfect place to stay. With over 2 million listings in 191 countries, how can you be sure that you're choosing the right one? One way to improve your search results is to hack the category system. In this blog post, we will show you how to do just that!

Airbnb has a few different categories that you can search for: entire homes, private rooms, shared rooms, and unique spaces. These categories are based on the type of listing it is. For example, an entire home would be a house or an apartment that you have to yourself. A private room would be a room in someone's house or apartment that you share with them. And a shared room would be a room in someone's house or apartment that you share with other people.

The first step to hacking the Airbnb category system is to decide what type of listing you're looking for. Are you looking for an entire home, or would you be okay with a private room? If you're traveling with a group, you might want to look for an entire home so that you have more privacy. But if you're okay with being around other people, a shared room might be just fine.

Once you've decided what type of listing you're looking for, the next step is to figure out which category has the most listings that match what you're looking for. For example, if you're looking for an entire home in New York City, you would want to search in the “entire homes” category. But if you're looking for a private room in San Francisco, you would want to search in the “private rooms” category.

The last step to hacking the Airbnb category system is to use keywords to improve your search results. For example, if you're looking for a private room in San Francisco, you would want to use keywords like “private room,” “shared room,” or “unique space.” By using these keywords, you'll be able to see more listings that match what you're looking for.

So there you have it! These are three easy steps to hack the Airbnb category system and improve your search results. By following these steps, you'll be able to find the perfect place to stay on your next trip. And who knows, maybe you'll even save some money in the process!

With new search changes, Airbnb categories are a critical factor in a customer locating your rental.

There are over 50 Airbnb categories, so how do you get placed in the right one for your property? Here's how to hack the new search function so you can place your property in the Airbnb categories you want to be in.

Hack The New Search Function & Place Your Property In The Airbnb Categories You Prefer

Airbnb Categories in new app

With millions of active listings, machine learning analyses each one using descriptions, photo captions, structured data from Hosts, and reviews from your guests.

However, you can do a few things to improve the chances of your property being included in Airbnb categories.

1. Make sure your list of amenities and features is complete and current

I spoke about this in a prior post, but Airbnb is pushing hard for the “Dedicated workspace” feature.

Here you need to be tactical, so if there are AirBnB categories you want to feature in, start there and reverse engineer everything back from there.

Also, don’t forget the power of an Airbnb account manager. Since Airbnb was listed on the stock markets, they are investing money to ensure they have more staff to help hosts.

Take advantage of this and try and reach out to help make sure you’re listed in a category you want to appear in.

You never know; they might be able to help. All you need to do is ask. Shy kids don’t get sweets after all.

  • Key features of your space are depicted with high-quality photography.

2. The new Airbnb search is all about High-Quality Photos.

  • What’s more, you need to use photo captions to describe what the guest is looking at clearly.

Top tip: When you caption your photo, write it for the AI and utilise keywords that the Airbnb machine will look for. This can also influence your Airbnb categories.

In Closing: Set Expectations For Your Guests

I can’t believe I have to finish the post with this, but I’m going to add it to be sure.

At the end of the day, Airbnb is focused on ensuring its guests have a great experience and that you, the host, set expectations before the guest arrives at your property.

If you’re a city centre apartment with a view of a building, don’t try and manipulate your listing so you appear in the “fantastic views” category and get some extra views.

I love marketing hacks like the next person.

But at the end of the day, underpromise and overdeliver. Your business will drive so many referrals and repeat direct bookings that you won’t have to worry about the next Airbnb update.
