Tips to make your listing apart from other TripAdvisor

A recent blog by TripAdvisor really stood out to me. Take a read, so you can get up to speed with what this post is about. CLICK HERE to see what TripAdvisor had to say.

They conducted a survey with the last 12 months of their data, the results were really interesting. Check out the image, “Where are UK travellers going?” (pictured below).

London is the obvious destination of choice, but look at the next three. It’s not Liverpool, it’s not down South – it’s Yorkshire! Whitby and Filey are really popular after my personal favourite, York.

What does it all mean?

It means that Yorkshire is very popular on this platform. If you have a property in Filey or Whitby, then you should be investing more time and money into TripAdvisor.

TOP TIPS For Making Your Listing Stand Out On TripAdvisor

Add nearby cities and towns to your listing title – if your rental is near a popular destination, say so! Highlight it in your listing title or description. For example, post that you are a country cottage 10 minutes' drive from Whitby. You’ll immediately attract the attention of travellers.

Mention nearby attractions – let your surroundings help sell your place! Just remember this ancient marketing wisdom: location, location, location!

When a traveller conducts a search, it starts off very vague and from where they narrow down their search to filter through the hundreds of properties that come up to make a decision on where to stay.

The 5 most popular filter option results on TripAdvisor:

  • Private Pool
  • Wi-Fi
  • Park
  • Garden/Outdoor Space
  • Hot Tub

What I want you to do now is to take a look at your property listing on TripAdvisor. If you offer any of these amenities, have you added it to your profile? If not, do so, NOW!

For example, if you’re a holiday cottage in Whitby with free Wi-Fi, a park nearby with a nice outdoor space, and a hot tub, you should be killing it with TripAdvisor bookings. Make it known to TripAdvisor that you offer these amenities!

TripAdvisor is one of the biggest travel research websites in the world. 83% of travellers don’t book a property until they have read a TripAdvisor review.
