The guest experience is more important than price when it comes to loyal, repeat customers and recommendations.
Have you ever wondered why a guest returns to see you? Is it the price? How about your food? Maybe it is because guests know what to expect with you. A recent study has shown that it is actually the guest experience that brings guests to return.  Maybe you are a natural at customer service and you haven't realised this, but YOU are the reason that customers return.

A little exercise
Think about a local business near you, a place you visit time and time again. Maybe it is the local cafe. Why do you go there? Is it because it is the cheapest? (Probably not. That would be McDonald's!) I’m thinking of one now: Love Brew in Scarborough. I go there for the epic service and amazing food. My customer experience is awesome every time I go in there, so I keep on returning.
A good guest experience doesn’t mean that you have to be 100% all the time. Sometimes it might be the little things that count.
Your USP
For example, a client and I were trying to think of ways to make her property stand out. We came up with the idea to leave a stick of Scarborough rock in the room for when guests arrive. It’s cheap, cheerful, and always makes the guests laugh when they see it. They will either eat it or take it home as a gift for someone. We even have had people take a photo and post it on their Facebook/Instagram accounts, tagging the property! (Hello, free advertising!)
Success is all about pinpointing your Unique Selling Point and working it. You may be wondering how you find that out. The easiest way is to ask your current guests.
Take 100 emails from your database and send out a bulk email to everyone via MailChimp (Free and easy to use). Ask one question: What do you like most about {insert property name}?
This works for hotels, guesthouses and self-let properties. Give it a go.
