Ambassador Programme FAQ

You are promoting the Boostly service the Boostly Academy which is a training resource for hospitality owners all over the world.

We pay 20% commission on all sales.

For the Boostly marketing products, we have an ambassador tracking platform in place.

This is a useful tool as it will show you what is working so you can do more of it.

For the Boostly Academy, Ambassador programme will show you all the traffic you have sent and if you are using Sub IDs and specific links it will show you all of those visitors too. The Boostly service works on a different login but shows the same level of stats.

We make payments on the last day of the month. This will be based on products sold in the month before.  This allows for cancellations and clawbacks. Any account set up on a payment plan, you will be paid when their payment plan expires.

We make ambassador payments via Paypal.

Yes, we have a dedicated ambassador manager who can help you with your links but we ask that initially, you look at the guides in this ambassador marketing centre to get you to start and refer to your joining email.

So don’t worry we are not leaving you to get on with it alone.  We understand for some people affiliate marketing is new.

Yes do get in touch and we can discuss this.   For those of you with big email lists or a big social media audience, we can look to create you something bespoke and unique.  This could be an article, lead magnet or in some cases a webinar.

When an affiliate promotes your products and services they use a referral URL which typically looks like this:

http://yoursite.com/?ref=123

When a customer clicks this link and lands on your website, the affiliate’s ID (123 in the example above) is stored in a cookie, within the customer’s browser. If the customer makes a purchase, the affiliate that the customer is tracking is awarded commission on the sale.

Absolutely! Since the affiliate’s ID is stored in a cookie, the affiliate is tracked across all pages on the site.

You can change the ref variable from Affiliates → Settings → General → Referral VariableSee our affiliate URLs doc which lists all the variations of a referral URL that your affiliates can use.

How long does the tracking cookie stay in the customer’s browser?

The cookie’s expiration is determined by how many days is entered from  Affiliates → Settings → General → Cookie Expiration. By default, it’s set to 1 day, but you can change this to any number of days.

Note, a user may clear their browser cookies at any time, in which case the affiliate will no longer be tracked.

If a customer clicks on 2 different affiliate links from 2 different affiliates, which one is saved?

The first affiliate link that the customer clicks will store the affiliate’s ID in a cookie and it cannot be overridden from the second link unless the cookie expires, or the customer clears their browser cookies and then clicks on the second link, or the  Credit Last Referrer setting is enabled on Affiliates → Settings → General .

AffiliateWP uses JavaScript to store a cookie that tracks an affiliate’s ID. If there are any kind of JavaScript errors on your website, the cookie may not be stored and your affiliate will not be awarded commission when a customer purchases. JavaScript errors will also prevent other functionality on your website from working so it’s always a good idea to fix them.

JavaScript errors are commonly caused by either your theme or another plugin. The first thing you should try is switching to a standard WordPress theme (2013 – 2017). If the JavaScript error/s disappear then the issue lies within your theme somewhere. If the JavaScript errors are still there the next step is to disable all other WordPress plugins and test again. See this guide on  using your browser to diagnose JavaScript errors.

If you are unable to fix your JavaScript errors, you can enable  Use Fallback Referral Tracking Method? from Affiliates → Settings → Misc. Fixing JavaScript errors should be your top priority.

No, not unless the customer clearly states that they are signing up via your name and recommendation. Payouts will be tracked and awarded on the back of purchase via the website and a member of Boostly hasn’t had to deal with directly.

If a customer clicks on an affiliate link and uses a coupon assigned to that affiliate, does the affiliate receive double referrals?

No, the coupon will always “win”, including if it is assigned to a different affiliate.  The affiliate assigned to the coupon or discount code will always receive the referral, regardless if an affiliate link was used.

Promotional Ideas

Here are a few places you can add links to refer people into us.

Clearly one of the easiest places to refer people to us is on your social media channels.  Just sharing the link with a small intro can be a great way to start getting people into us.

We would suggest avoiding driving people to us from groups and pages you don’t own or at least make sure the page admins have given you permission.  After all, we don’t want to get anyone into any trouble.

We would suggest adding a link to us on any resources page or useful partners pages.  This way it is a soft referral into us. This is a nice way to build out referrals.

Your thank you pages are also a great way to get people referred to us.  After all, they are in the buying mood as they have just bought from you. This is a nice subtle way to drive enquiries.

You could write about your experience with us as a review.  Independent reviews are a great way to build in trust and get referrals into us.

You can also use your blog to write content around our topic and then link to us as a resource.

Or you could write an article about the 5 tools or services you used to grow your business or the 3 tools every business owners needs to consider to grow their leads online.

There are endless possibilities.

One thing we see lots of the top affiliates and site owners doing is creating lead magnets such as Rolodexes / black books/ recommended tools guides.  In this way, you are building your email list and when people download your magnet they get presented with some useful content that also has links to affiliate programmes.  This is a sort approach and one we recommend all business owners should be investigating.

If you have a newsletter you could include some kind of commentary or even ad referring people to us.

Hopefully, as you can see there are some simple ways to refer people to us, and these can be built into your normal everyday activities, so once these things are live, you can simply focus on growing your business and this will filter down into referrals into us.

There are lots of ways to promote what we can offer so if there is something you would like help with putting together please do get in touch.
